Warm up for the Seattle Spicy Salmon Roll with a signature chill skate along the Seattle waterfront. We will start and end at Lumen field, easily accessed by the International District Light Rail Station.
We’ll roll through the city's stadiums, stop for ice cream at Molly Moon’s, glide through the recently renovated waterfront along the bike path, take an extended break and catch the sunset over the Puget Sound at Pier 62 and the Seattle Aquarium’s outdoor viewing portal, and round out the route with a loop in and out of the waterfront sculpture park.
This route offers stunning views, easy access to restrooms and snacks, ample time to rest and practice tricks and slides, the optional opportunity to practice on two small and safe hills, and all the good vibes you need to kick off the weekend.

Beforehand, the route starts near Seattle’s International district (5-minute skate, 15-minute walk) with many take out and quick options. The starting point is also close to street vendors who sell hot dogs and other street food on game days. During the route, skaters may choose to stop for ice cream. Multiple water stations and one public bathroom available on the route. Skaters may choose to get dinner during the Pier 62 break at takeout spots along the waterfront.

Tour de Waterfront

This is an impromptu route carrying experienced city skaters though some of the best hills, views, nooks, and back alleys of Seattle’s downtown core and South Lake Union.

Beforehand, the route starts near Seattle’s International district (5-minute skate, 15-minute walk) with many take out and quick options. The starting point is also close to street vendors who sell hot dogs and other street food on game days.

A spicy night route ripping through the city and bombing down big hills 

Wasabi Night Skate

We'll start at University of Washington, trail skate to Gas Works Park, and then switch
to medium-spice urban skating including a mild hill. We'll visit <a href="https://usa.shop-task.com/">Shop Task</a>, downtown Seattle including the Amazon
campus, and hit an intermediate hill down 2nd Avenue.
This skate will end at Lumen Stadium to prepare for the evening Alki skate. There will be built-in
time dedicated for stopping for food.

Lots of coffee options around the university before the route, coffee shop near shop task, and we'll stop along the route for snacks around lunchtime.

Urban Cross-City

Starting at Lumen, a mostly chill skate to Alki Beach. Will have some rough pavement and mild hills. All skaters will require some hill control for the West Seattle Bridge.
There will be an option for a Spicy Offshoot where a group of skaters will branch off to hit a spicy
hill bomb, and the remaining group will take the chiller trail option. The groups will reconnect at
Alki Beach for the evening event.
Spicy Offshoot Details:
This is the Red-hot Admiral Break-off! Spice rating 4.
The spicy route to the Alki beach party will take skaters up and over Admiral hill. The "up" is a sustained uphill that takes skaters between 10-to-20 minutes to climb (wanna race to the top?!) and then we will glide down a beautiful sustained downhill with incredible peekaboo views of Puget Sound below us. There is some rough pavement and excellent hill control is needed due to the length of the hill. Full protection gear recommended.

This will be an evening gathering of skaters from across the Seattle community! Besides the hosts of this event (the Seattle Distance Skating Club), we'll be joined by skaters repping Seattle Weekly Skate Session Of Friendship, Emerald City Skaties, Seattle Skates, and more!
Options for chill beach boardwalk skating, hanging out, food and drinks, music, aggressive rail skating, and more! BYOB or grab food on the waterfront, and expect a fun skater hangout time!
For transport back to Seattle downtown later in the evening, there are several options: rideshare (Uber/Lyft), regularly running buses, carpool with other skaters, or skating back. Some event members will be skating back and can host an informal group along the route — details to come!

Alki Beach

You came to Seattle to skate spicy hills, didn't you? We serve plenty of them on this skate.
This route perfectly matches your EKG line when you skate it. We start at Jefferson Skatepark and skate 6 minutes before going down our first big hill, passionately anticipating a dozen of them waiting for us ahead. We will cross the Lake, and then we will do it again. Every hill on this route has a rollout and allows you to go full speed. Every inch of the route is covered with adrenaline. The cumulative elevation drop is 1350ft. The challenge is real, but the prize is worth it. You have to prepare - mentally, physically, gear and nutrition wise.
We expect to see on you:

<li>the most stable setup you have (short rockered set-ups may feel unstable)</li>
<li>a nice water bottle, accompanied by several portions of electrolytes in any form</li>

Getting there:
Jefferson Park Skatepark is easily accessible from the Beacon Hill light rail station. The route will end at the University of Washington light rail station (closest to the University of Washington Medical Center) giving skaters easy access via public transportation back to the starting point if needed.

Bathroom and water stops available along the route. The route will conclude at University of Washington, at the light rail station, near the roll-out location for today’s night skate. Many options available near the University or along the light rail.

Jefferson Park Skatepark

Two Bridges

Join us for a relaxing and social skate on the scenic trail around Green Lake! This is a "choose your own adventure" skate where you can complete as many or as few 3-mile laps as you'd like, with a total distance of up to 12 miles. The path is a paved trail, perfect for a smooth and enjoyable ride.
We'll start and end at the Green Lake Arch, where someone will keep an eye on our belongings. After the skate, we'll unwind with a picnic, so be sure to bring your own blanket, snacks, and any fun picnic activities you enjoy. We might even make a stop for ice cream during our skate! This is a great opportunity to enjoy a beautiful Seattle landmark, get some laps in, and socialize with fellow skaters in a laid-back setting.

This is a BYO (Bring Your Own) picnic event, so please bring your own snacks and drinks. There are several takeout restaurants close by along the route.

Bring out your lights! We'll start at Gas Works Park, an iconic location that looks like it was pulled from Howl's Moving Castle–rusty machinery juxtaposed with lush grassy hills–then we'll follow the trail through two North Seattle neighborhoods. Our destination is Seattle's other sandy beach, Golden Gardens!
We'll stop in Ballard for food and drinks along the way, then we'll hit the beach for sunset. After we've hung out and taken some pictures, we'll return to Gas Works Park to end our skate with a gorgeous view of the city lights.
It will be dark on the return trip. Did we mention you should bring lights?
While it is a very chill route that is generally accessible to newer skaters, this route does have a couple rough pavement spots and two mild hills with long rollouts. (If you have never, ever skated on rough pavement outside, consider practicing before you decide to join this skate.)
Getting there:
For those using the transit to get around, Gas Works Park is an easy two-mile skate from the UW light rail station along the Burke-Gilman Trail. If needed, there are many bus routes near or along the trail that can take you back to Gas Works (31, 32, 40), UW Station (44), or downtown (5, 40, D Line, E Line).

We will take a half an hour break before reaching the beach at an intersection that includes a 7-Eleven store, a pizza by the slice restaurant, and a few other options.

“Duck to the Future” Skate Game

This chill, flat trail skate offers a cruisy and breezy end to a perfect weekend. Starting from Shop Task, you'll glide up the West side of Lake Union, with the option to stop and enjoy the lake and views. For those seeking more, continue up the East side to peek at beautiful Seattle views through mini parks, turning around at Roanoke Street mini park to return to Shop Task for a total of 6 miles.
While generally flat, be aware of a very small slope and some chunky, crappy pavement on the East side. This skate is perfect for those looking to enjoy the lake, look at sailboats, and take in the Seattle scenery before the closing party at Shop Task.
